1 kg potatoes
1 garlic clove
600 ml milk
350 ml cream
Peel the potatoes and cut into very finely and thin slices. Rub out the gratin pan with a clove of garlic and butter.
Salt the milk, season with pepper and nutmeg. Pour into the gratin dish, bring to a boil and add the potato slices. Simmer for about 5 minutes over medium heat.
Add whipped cream, stir and bake at 200 degrees for about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Best suited for this gratin are the floury potato varieties.
Before baking, one can put some pieces of butter on the surface.
